While working as a designer in 2025 at DEPT® agency, I produced the creatives for the Mammut Mountainwear Rescue campaign, which is a continuation of the Not a streetwear brand concept we have been producing for the last few years. The aim was to reinforce Mammut’s identity in the industry as a true mountainwear brand in response to the growing “gorpcore” streetwear trend.

Alongside a team of creatives, copy experts, and a production crew, my role was to produce the printed visuals used during filming, including props and misuse notices distributed in the campaign video. I also designed the digital assets to represent the campaign online. The digital assets included banners for the Mammut website, social media cover image graphics, a YouTube video cover design and some GIF banners for CRM.

The campaign introduced the fictional Mountainwear Rescue Team, a playful social-first concept designed to “rescue” technical outdoor gear from urban misuse and return it to the mountains, to the environment they were built for. Using humour, culturally relevant storytelling, and highly shareable content, the campaign successfully repositioned Mammut as an authentic and premium brand rooted in real outdoor performance.

The outcome was a highly engaging campaign that strengthened Mammut’s brand positioning, increased social traction, and reinforced its authenticity within the outdoor space — demonstrating the impact of clear, insight-led creative direction. The campaign was also recently nominated for two Webby Awards in 2026.

Mammut Mountainwear Rescue Design Case Study by Jade Smith

The campaign spanned across multiple regions, including EN, FR, and DE. I had to keep this in mind when working on the rollout of the designs for these locations to allow for extra space where copy translations would be longer, like on the DE designs, for example.
